What Makes Attorney Eric Hannum Uniquely Qualified To Represent You?

Eric began his legal career as a student at the Temple University’s James E. Beasly School of Law in Philadelphia. While there, he was not only involved in many of the school’s groups and programs, he also participated in the school’s Family Law Mediation Center Outreach Program, wherein he mediated a variety of family law cases for the Philadelphia Family Court located on Arch Street in Center City Philadelphia.

Subsequent to obtaining his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Temple University in 2003, Eric worked as a Law Clerk to the Presiding Family Part Judge in Mercer County, The Honorable Laura M. LeWinn, P.J.F.P., for the 2004-2005 court term. During his tenure as Judge LeWinn’s Law Clerk, he not only prepared Tentative Decisions and Orders for the Court, but also mediated cases on a weekly basis to reduce the number of matters to be heard by the Court. After his clerkship, Eric worked as an associate attorney in one of New Jersey’s top 25 law firms which was located in Princeton, New Jersey. While practicing there, Eric also served as an attorney coach for The Lawrenceville School’s Mock Trial Team taking the team to a second place standing in Vincent J. Apruzzese Mock Trial Competition which was the school’s best placement since it began competing in this nationally recognized competition ten years earlier. Eric eventually decided to open his own practice in 2007 establishing his office in Jackson, New Jersey. Approximately ten years later Mr. Hannum decided to relocate his practice and has been running his firm in Wall, New Jersey ever since.

Eric is presently an active committee member on the Ocean County Bar Association Family Law Committee and is a New Jersey Supreme Court Qualified Mediator. He is also a member of the Monmouth and Ocean County Bar Associations while additionally participating in the Monmouth-Ocean Family Law Inns of Court. Eric is also a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the New Jersey Association of Justice. In the past, Eric additionally served for several years on the New Jersey State Bar Associations Privacy Law Committee. When not actively litigating or meditating, Eric has also dedicated his time to authoring articles for New Jersey Lawyer Magazine while additionally taking time to lecture in Atlantic City as a featured speaker for the New Jersey Association for Justice at their annual Association for Justice Boardwalk Seminar.

Eric has also always believed that the “Kids Come First” and has, for the past four years, given back to the youth in the community where he grew up (Freehold Regional School District) by assisting high school students who have overcome challenging personal and/or domestic situations by offering qualified candidates $250.00 each in scholarship monies annually through the Eric B. Hannum Scholarship for Children from Divorced and Single-Parent Households.

While practicing for nearly two decades as a divorce and family law attorney, and having experienced his own parent’s divorce at an early age, Eric experienced and saw firsthand the effects of a divorce on the family as a whole and decided to actively assist those affected children directly.

To that end, a monetary award in the amount of $250 is given each year to a high school student that Eric believes has demonstrated academic and/or personal accomplishments in the face of hurdles that the students encountered due to familial conflict and strife growing up in a single parent or divorced parent household.
